Latest Linux operating system for critical applications
The new APROL release is based on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP6. This operating system and its components are specially hardened for critical applications in accordance with CIS benchmarks and fulfil the highest security requirements of networked production systems. It therefore provides a reliable and secure basis for use in demanding industrial environments.
The new APROL R 4.4-01 was launched in November 2024 and is available in the download area.
Operator and user management via 389DS
The Directory Server 389DS has been fully implemented for optimum integration of user management. APROL offers a stand-alone 389DS server as standard for independent stand-alone operation. Alternatively, a connection to the company-wide Active Directory is also possible. The use of the 389DS industry standard guarantees maximum security and flexibility.
Cybersecurity extensions
As more and more automation solutions are using certificates to encrypt communication, B&R has integrated a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and a Common Certificate Store in APROL. TPM 2.0 is also used to further secure private keys. The TLS 1.3 standard is offered for encryption. SBOMs (Software Bill of Materials) are provided for all installation media to support any release processes at the end customer.
OPC UA HDA for trend system
As historical data is of enormous importance in the industry, APROL is adding new functions to the trend system with the integration of OPC UA HDA for standardised access to historical data. This new functionality guarantees simplicity, flexibility and unrivalled communication security. It is a standardised solution for all manufacturers that enables easy integration with enterprise SCADA.
OPC UA PubSub for controller-controller communication
Communication between controllers is significantly improved by the implementation of OPC UA PubSub. Users benefit from fast, efficient and secure data transmission in real time. The manufacturer-independent OPC UA PubSub technology also enables flexible and scalable communication that is suitable for both existing and new systems.
